Day 1: Fez – Ifrane – Midelt – Erfoud – Merzouga.
3 days Fes desert tour departure: After breakfast, we will leave the city of Fez and travel to the dunes of Merzouga. To arrive, we will head towards the Middle Atlas, and visit Ifrane, known as the Switzerland of Africa. The next town where we will pass will be Azrou, “the rock”, where we will stop to observe its forest and see the monkeys in freedom. Following the road through the Tizi Talghemt or Camel Neck, at 1,907 meters of altitude and where the relief is impressive since the mountains are completely bare, and it seems that they are covered with a purple coat. We will arrive at Errachidia and in the crossing we will be able to observe the massif of Tafilalet,
We will continue the path through the palm grove of Erfoud. This will be where we will continue our way along the track until we reach the famous sand dunes of Erg Chebbi near Merzouga. Upon arrival, you will have free time to enjoy the calm of the desert and see how the dunes change color. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 2: Merzouga desert excursion.
After breakfast in the hotel, you will begin your journey around Merzouga before camel trekking to the middle dunes and staying in a traditional Berber tent. Next day we will visit Khamlia Village where you will see (Gnawa black people) who originated in West Africa and were brought to Morocco by migration. We will take a break and have a glass of tea and listen to their music. Afterward, we will visit the mines, and nomads and see unique handicrafts behind Erg Chebbi. In the evening you will ride by camel with a professional camel man to discover what the golden sand dunes hide, and there you will have dinner in a Berber tent and listen to desert music.
Day 3: Merzouga – Middle Atlas – Fes.
Early morning the camel man will wake you up to climb the sand dunes so that you can see the sunrise and take some pictures. The camel man will bring you back to your hotel so you can shower and have breakfast. After breakfast, we will drive the same way to Fez and bring you back to your hotel/riad.
